John Carlton
In his own words, John Carlton may be “the most ripped-off writer alive.”
And when it comes to online marketing, his copywriting system may be without peer. To be sure, many of the other Internet marketing gurus out there, from Rich Schefren to Frank Kern, claim John as one of their mentors in the business.
The funny thing is that John started out long before the Internet was even a gleam in anyone’s eye. He started his career freelancing for advertising agencies in Los Angeles, because he could put together the materials that the in-house writers could not. When it came to closing letters, John started out as the “go-to” guy for more than few agencies.
He teamed up with Gary Halbert and Jay Abraham, two of the biggest names in direct response marketing, and made their synergy lucrative for all of them.
When Web 2.0 started to be a viable solution for Internet marketing, John was right on top of it. He was one of the first to see the value of podcasts, blogs, email marketing, and the virtual seminar, as opposed to the more expensive, more unwieldy face-to-face presentation.
Indeed, it is hard to find John at a seminar. This past year, he only spoke at seven conferences — on three continents. John spends most of his time helping his clients on a personal basis — in fact, he still takes the time to review his clients’ copy personally, instead of outsourcing that to yet another intern.
It is this personal attention that comes with each opinion and what he calls “Hot Seat” consultations that make his teaching worth every dollar. Those copywriters who have invested the time and money to sit at his feet and put his opinions to work have built unbelievable marketing incomes.
Would it surprise you to know that John has a college degree in psychology? Maybe — but maybe not. It takes a great deal of understanding about the human mind and emotions to receive that sort of degree, and you have to understand how people work to write the sort of copy that makes readers into long-term customers.
And that’s one of John’s strengths. He knows what people want, what people think, and he knows how to persuade them to believe that what he has is what they need. Psychological concepts, applied to selling and marketing industry.
Have you come up with a product or service that your target audience just can’t live without? That’s great!
However, your niche may not know that they need it yet. It’s up to you, as the marketer, to get the message out. After all, people were satisfied with free coffee, or paying with the change out of their pockets for coffee at the corner store.
And then came Starbucks, right?
John uses the same concept. He has a “Simple Writing System” that will help you take your advertising copy to the next level. Once you figure out how the system works, then you can put John’s expertise to work for you, and come up with copy that is dynamic…and lucrative.
You can come up with copy that predicts and answers your customers’ objections. You can kiss “writer’s block” good-bye, and you will find everything you need flowing out of your word processor — scripts for videos, letters, web content, email scripts.
Still not convinced? If you stop by John’s blog, you will see enough free articles on there to help you answer a lot of basic questions. He does refer to his “Simple Writing System” classes on there, and makes it very easy to sign up. The more of John’s principles you can absorb, the better your copy will become.
And that’s when your money will start to flow in. John Carlton has helped many other marketing empires get up and running, and his advice will help you, too.
