Eben Pagan
Eben Pagan is an author and entrepreneur who has gained exposure as an Internet marketer from advertising his own services and products online. His career began with leading business and marketing workshops but has since expanded to writing books as well. Pagan is probably most well known for being a dating expert and the creator of the Double Your Dating program. As an author, he writes about dating and business skills and sometimes uses the pseudonym David DeAngelo. I was fortunate to be invited by Eben to his two Green Room events where I networked with other top Internet marketers and ended up meeting ChrisX, who would become my launch partner for Shadow.
Born in 1971, Pagan is a New Yorker but moved to the Pacific Northwest and then San Diego at the beginning of his career. Through his day job as a real estate and mortgage broker, Pagan discovered his true talent was teaching direct marketing real estate professionals. While today Pagan focuses mostly on his dating programs, he has produced several business courses including “Get Altitude,” “Guru Mastermind,” “Guru Blueprint” and “Get Ignition.” Most of these products were primarily marketed through the Internet. Another of Pagan’s start-up businesses is Fire Your Wedding Planner. Originally started by a friend, Pagan guided and financially supported the launch of this company. Once the company was established, Pagan gave his share of the company to a friend who, eventually, sold the company to a third party.
During the time Pagan was discovering his knack for teaching, he was also active on the dating scene and having little success finding women. After reading all the dating material he could get his hands on, Pagan decided he needed to find out for himself what does and doesn’t work in the dating world. What he noticed most was that the men who were getting the most women were laid back and seemed to be naturals at attracting the opposite sex. From his experiences and observations, he wrote the Double Your Dating ebook, followed that up with an informative dating training and eventually created an entire company and career out of giving dating advice.
The Double Your Dating ebook came out in 2001, and Pagan ran his brand new business venture out of his bedroom in San Diego. In the years that followed, Pagan continued producing products to help men with dating, including the Advanced Dating series, Deep Inner Game, 77 Laws of Success With Women and Dating, and Meeting Women Online. By 2009, Pagan’s company had 80 employees working remotely and grossed nearly $30 million annually.
Today, Pagan maintains a newsletter with over a million subscribers, sells ebooks, records DVDs and CDs, gives seminars, and leads workshops all on the principles of his Double Your Dating theory. Pagan’s aim is to demystify the dating world for single men who are having trouble getting dates and pass on the knowledge he has for successful dating and relationships. His other products include Advanced and Mastery series, Power Sexuality, On Being a Man, Cocky Comedy, Body Language, Become Mr. Right, and Man Transformation. Pagan also runs a monthly interview series in which he talks with other mainstream dating gurus.
Pagan claims that his products help men not only get more dates, but also meet other dating goals such as having more satisfying relationships, finding casual sex, or creating lasting relationships. Pagan includes theories of evolutionary psychology in his dating advice, and also asserts that if men do not understand women they won’t be able to attract them. “Cocky funny” is the phrase Pagan uses to describe a man with the qualities he believes women are most attracted to: lightheartedness, confidence, humor and independence. In his products, Pagan argues that once a man truly understands how a woman’s mind works and what a woman is looking for, their success in dating will improve. His famous line, “Attraction is not a choice,” summarizes his belief that if a man acts in the way he describes, women won’t be able to help but be attracted to him.
